1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Email address — if you sign up for the waitlist or create a Pro account
• Payment information — for Pro subscribers, processed securely by Stripe. We never store card numbers.

Information collected automatically (Pro users only)

• Search queries submitted through the extension (to fulfill your search request)
• General product categories searched (anonymized, for improving result quality)
• Extension version and browser type (for compatibility)

Information we do NOT collect

• Your browsing history or any websites you visit
• Pages you view or content you read
• Passwords or login credentials for any site
• Your precise location
• Any information when the extension popup is closed

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Fulfill product search requests and return price comparison results
• Send price drop notifications for items you've saved (with your permission)
• Manage your Pro subscription and billing
• Send occasional product updates if you joined the waitlist (you can unsubscribe any time)
• Improve search result quality and add store coverage
• Diagnose technical issues and improve extension performance

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.

3. Information We Share

We share data only in these limited circumstances:

• Service providers — We use SerpAPI to retrieve product search data. Your search query is sent to SerpAPI's servers to fulfill results. SerpAPI's privacy policy governs their use of this data.
• Payment processing — Stripe processes all payments for Pro subscriptions. We share only what is necessary to complete your transaction.
• Email delivery — We use SendGrid to send transactional emails (price alerts, receipts). Your email address is shared with SendGrid for this purpose only.
• Legal requirements — We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of Shopadar and its users.

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

4. Local Storage and Browser Data

Shopadar stores the following data locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. This data is stored on your device and is not transmitted to our servers in the Free/Local tier:

• Your search history (up to 20 recent searches)
• Saved price alerts and target prices
• Your filter preferences and settings
• Your SerpAPI key (Free/Local tier only) — stored encrypted in local storage

You can clear this data at any time through the Shopadar Settings page inside the extension. Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data.

5. Affiliate Links and Third Parties

Shopadar uses affiliate links to generate revenue. When you click a product result and make a purchase, we may earn a commission from the retailer. This commission is paid by the retailer and does not change the price you pay.

Affiliate relationships are disclosed in our Affiliate Disclosure. Our affiliate partnerships do not influence search rankings — results are always sorted by price.

When you click through to a retailer's website, that retailer's own privacy policy governs how they collect and use your data.

6. Cookies

The Shopadar browser extension does not use cookies.

The Shopadar website (shopadar.app) uses minimal cookies:

• Essential cookies — Required for the website to function (session management for Pro accounts)
• Analytics — We use privacy-respecting analytics (no cross-site tracking, no fingerprinting) to understand general traffic patterns. You may opt out.

We do not use advertising cookies or share cookie data with advertisers.

7. Data Retention

• Waitlist emails — Retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion
• Pro account data — Retained for the duration of your subscription plus 30 days after cancellation
• Search logs (Pro tier) — Anonymized and aggregated after 30 days; individual logs deleted after 90 days
• Payment records — Retained as required by law (typically 7 years) for financial compliance

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

• Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction — Request correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion — Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
• Portability — Request your data in a machine-readable format
• Opt-out — Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the link in any email

9. Children's Privacy

Shopadar is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.

Continued use of Shopadar after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
